Mahama in Abidjan to Address AfDB Group Annual General Meeting

Abidjan: President John Dramani Mahama is in the Ivorian Capital, Abidjan, to address the 60th Annual General Meeting of the Africa Development Bank (AfDB) Group and the 51st Annual Meeting of the African Development Fund. He was received on arrival at the Felix Houphoet Boigny International Airport by Mr Kone Amadou, the Ivorian Minister of Transport.

According to Ghana News Agency, the meeting is themed ‘Making Africa’s Capital Work Better for Africa’s Development’ and is scheduled from May 26 to 30. A key highlight of the event is the election of a new President for the institution. The governors of the African Development Bank are set to elect a successor to the current Group President, Dr Akinwumi A. Adesina, whose second five-year term is concluding.

More than 6,000 delegates, including African heads of state and government, finance ministers, central bank governors, development partners, private sector representatives, civil society leaders, academics, think tanks and opinion leaders, NGOs, and other stakeholders, are expected to participate in the event.

President Mahama’s delegation includes Dr Callistus Mahama, the Executive Secretary to the President, and Mr Stan Xoese Dogbe, the Deputy Chief of Staff at the Presidency.
