NCA Suspends 62 Media Organisations Over Regulatory Breaches

Accra: The National Communications Authority (NCA) has suspended 62 media organisations for various regulatory infractions. In a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the NCA directed all non-compliant FM stations to cease operations immediately.

According to Ghana News Agency, the NCA cited infractions, including 28 stations with expired authorisations, 14 that failed to set up after approval, 13 operating on invalid authorisations, and seven operating without final authorisation. The Authority noted that the affected stations either lacked valid broadcasting authorisations or did not hold a certificate of compliance to operate.

The NCA stated that suspended stations may resume operations only after rectifying all regulatory breaches. While recognising radio's crucial role in national development, the Authority emphasised strict compliance with broadcasting regulations. It warned that non-adherence to directives would be considered a serious violation with severe consequences.
