Nana Yaa and Naa Asheley Invested as Rotary and Rotaract Leaders for Ghana

Accra: Rotary International District 9104 (Ghana) at the weekend held the first-ever joint investiture ceremony, inaugurating an all-female leadership duo of District Governor (DG) Nana Yaa Pokua Siriboe and District Rotaract Representative (DDR) Olive Naa Asheley Addo.

According to Ghana News Agency, this historic event marked the first time in the district's history that an all-female leadership team was inaugurated.

Nana Yaa Pokua Siriboe, who serves as the Director of Morning Star School, pledged to expand the membership and reach of the service-oriented community-based professional club. Olive Naa Asheley Addo promised to bring all Rotaractors in the young professionals and students' counterpart on board. The two leaders will guide 70 Rotary clubs and 59 Rotaract clubs across Ghana (District 9104) over the next twelve months.

The new District Governor, Nana Yaa, a Rotarian for 24 years and the third female governor, took over from Florence Maame Hagan. Reflecting on her journey, she expressed her excitement about Rotary's transformative impact, stating, "When I joined in 2001, I was just excited to be part of something new. Today, I stand here because Rotary changes lives - starting with mine." She emphasized the year's theme, "Unite for Good," and announced plans to form Interact clubs for pre-university students.

DRR Olive commended the efforts of both Rotary and Rotaract members, emphasizing the importance of building on past successes. She remarked, "We're not starting over - we're building on a strong legacy. If we truly unite for good, there are no limits to what we can achieve," highlighting the collective effort needed to advance their mission.

In her keynote address, Rotary Foundation Trustee Ijeoma Pearl Okoro urged support for the new leadership, emphasizing unity's necessity. She noted the steady increase in membership and contributions over the past three years, expressing optimism for continued progress through grants and partnerships.

Frank Afari Ankamah, Chair of the Host Organising Committee, reiterated the importance of united efforts for excellence, while Past District Governor Hagan assured the new leadership of the Rotary community's support. The event underscored Rotary's commitment to service, unity, and impactful community engagement.
