MP, DCE Engage Dabala Chiefs on Development Priorities

Dabala: Mr Maxwell Kwame Lukutor, Member of Parliament (MP) for South Tongu, and Ms Victoria Dzeklo, District Chief Executive (DCE), have paid a working visit to Dabala in the Volta Region to deliberate on pressing development needs with the chiefs and people of the community.

According to Ghana News Agency, the delegation, which included the District Engineer, Mr Simon Defoe, and a team of technical officers, met with the Chief, Queenmother, elders, and opinion leaders of Dabala to discuss the rehabilitation of the Dabala Market, the provision of potable water, and the improvement of the town's road network.

The Dabala Market, one of the busiest in South Tongu, serves as a major trading hub connecting farmers, traders, and buyers from across the Volta Region and beyond. Community leaders noted that rehabilitation of the market would not only enhance economic activity but also improve safety and hygiene conditions for traders and patrons.

On water supply, residents appealed for reliable access to pipe-borne water to address the long-standing challenges of scarcity and dependence on boreholes and wells.

The poor state of internal roads, which hampers transportation of goods and services, also emerged as a key concern during the discussions.

In response, the chiefs and elders announced that a gravel pit had been set aside for use in road construction and rehabilitation within the community, describing the gesture as their contribution towards speeding up development.

Mr Lukutor assured the people of Dabala of his commitment, together with the DCE, to ensuring the completion of both ongoing and abandoned projects in the area.

He said effective collaboration between political and traditional leaders was essential to improving the quality of life of residents.

Ms Dzeklo reiterated government's determination to respond to the developmental needs of communities through joint planning and execution of projects. She urged residents to support the Assembly's initiatives and continue to play their part in local development.
