Mortal Remains of Late Very Rev. Ledo Interred

Accra: The mortal remains of the late Very Rev. Japhet Ledo, former Moderator of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG), were interred following a burial service held at the Dela Cathedral of the Church at Ho Kpodzi. The ceremony witnessed the attendance of numerous mourners.

According to Ghana News Agency, Very Rev. Ledo, who served as the tenth Moderator of the EPCG, passed away at a private facility in Ho on December 30, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on December 27, 1940, into the Royal family at Klefe in the Ho Municipality, he began his career humbly as a laborer, progressing through roles such as shop attendant and carpenter. His dedication and resilience eventually led him to the position of Moderator of the EPCG.

Ordained as a Minister of the Church on August 8, 1976, after completing his studies at the Trinity Theological Seminary, Very Rev. Ledo held various positions before being elected as the tenth Moderator in January 1993. He served two terms, concluding his service in 2000. Beyond his ecclesiastical duties, he was an educationist who taught in numerous schools, rising to the rank of Assistant Director before retiring in 2000.

In a tribute, his children highlighted his unwavering dedication to serving others and his life of integrity, which profoundly impacted those around him. They emphasized that his love was an anchor in both joyful and challenging times. His children noted that their father worked not for recognition but to nurture and provide opportunities for those he cherished.

Mrs. Esther Ledo, his widow, reflected on their deep connection, describing it as one built on love and understanding. She acknowledged how his determination and resilience not only guided her but also transformed the lives of their children, teaching them to face challenges with strength.

The EPCG paid tribute to Very Rev. Ledo as a reservoir of knowledge and a mentor to many young pastors, recognizing him as a great asset to the Church. They expressed that his departure created a significant void that would take time to fill.

The Mediators Consult, founded by Very Rev. Ledo, praised his unbiased judgment and leadership maxim that "everybody matters." The Bremen Mission commended his unwavering commitment to their cause, noting his understanding of love, compassion, and service to humanity.

The Klefe Traditional Council referred to him as a gem, always serving his community. Right Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. (Rtd) Bliss Divine Agbeko, Moderator of the Church, encouraged Christians to strive to impact society positively, extolling the virtues of Very Rev. Ledo as worthy of emulation.

Dignitaries in attendance included Mr. James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, heads of sister Churches from Ghana, Togo, and the Diaspora, as well as Chiefs from the Asogli State, Klefe Traditional Area, and other parts of the country.
