Accra: His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco has granted pardon to 685 individuals on the occasion of the anniversary of the King and People's Revolution.Some of the individuals were in detention and others at liberty, who were convicted by various courts in the Kingdom, the Ministry of Justice said in a statement.In a significant move, King Mohammed VI extended the pardon to 4,831 individuals involved in cases related to cannabis cultivation.These individuals, whether convicted, prosecuted, or wanted, will be eligible for pardon provided they meet specific conditions.As an expression of Royal clemency, this Grace consecrates the Kingdom's ongoing commitment to establishing a climate of trust, thereby encouraging an association of efforts for the well-being of the Nation.It embodies the humanist approach adopted by the Sovereign since his accession to the throne, highlighting the values of tolerance, forgiveness and compassion, which form fundamental pillars of His Reign.This initiative will als o contribute to improving the daily lives of farmers, faced with difficult economic and social conditions, and to promoting the spirit of tolerance and reconciliation within Moroccan society.Furthermore, the Royal Grace is in perfect harmony with the government's objectives, notably the development of legal uses of cannabis, with the aim of enabling farmers to participate in lucrative activities within a legal framework.It allows them to promote their ancestral knowledge in the cultivation of cannabis while benefiting from a regulated framework.This approach benefits both the Kingdom and the farmers, by fighting against the control of traffickers and encouraging the transition to legal cultivation.The Pardon granted to cannabis cultivators embodies the Royal concern shown to the different components of the society of the provinces concerned, in particular those that were under the influence of traffickers and criminal organizations, thus contributing to reducing social problems and preventing the inst ability.This Royal approach embodies the consecration of the commitment of His Majesty the King in favor of social and economic justice, thus positioning the Kingdom, both on the nationally and internationally, as a pioneer of humanist policies.This Royal humanist gesture reflects the sincere desire of the Kingdom to put an end to the underhanded exploitation of these affairs by malicious parties seeking to damage the Kingdom'sSource: Ghana News Agency
