More Unemployed Youth in Dormaa Register for Apprenticeship Programme, Says NYA Director

Dormaa-ahenkro: Mr. Kofi Aduse-Poku, the Dormaa Central Municipal Director of the National Youth Authority (NYA) in the Bono Region, has announced that 206 artisanal workers have been registered for the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP). Additionally, 748 applicants from the municipality have signed up to benefit from the government's initiative aimed at equipping the youth with technical, vocational, and entrepreneurial skills to foster job creation and alleviate poverty.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Aduse-Poku, in an interview at Dormaa-Ahenkro, commended the government's efforts, highlighting that the programme's implementation would provide employment opportunities for the youth population. He noted that this initiative would empower them economically and contribute to reducing social issues, such as youth indiscipline, while addressing the rising unemployment rate in the municipality.

Mr. Aduse-Poku stressed the importance of sustaining the programme and encouraged the youth to utilize the online applications platform to register. He revealed that the first phase of the project aims to benefit 10,000 youth nationwide, with the NYA collaborating with the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) on its execution.

He assured that the selection process for beneficiaries is free from political bias and urged the public to disregard any rumours suggesting otherwise. The programme targets reducing youth unemployment and is open to individuals aged 15 to 40 who are unemployed and have not yet registered, encouraging them to acquire employable skills training for securing decent jobs.

Mr. Aduse-Poku further explained that the selection criteria do not require academic qualifications, allowing school dropouts to also register and benefit from the programme.
