Adaklu Kodzobi: Reverend Richard Mawufemor Agbi, in-charge of the Global Evangelical Church, Kingdom Life Chapel at Adaklu Kodzobi, has stated that moral values have become scarce commodities in Ghanaian society. "Values like faithfulness, truthfulness, loyalty, courage, and vigilance among others are no longer part of the values our forebears cherished so much," he said.
According to Ghana News Agency, Rev. Agbi noted that the erosion of these virtues, especially the demand for accountability, is often misconstrued as disrespect and an attack on elders and those in leadership positions. He delivered this message during a sermon marking the first Sunday of the year at the GEC, Kingdom Life Chapel in the Adaklu district.
The sermon was based on 2 Timothy 4:1-5 and Psalm 67:6-8, under the theme "preach the word: the charge to keep." Rev. Agbi emphasized that virtues such as vigilance, courage, and accountability, particularly among the youth, should not be seen as vandalism. He urged citizens to strive to cultivate these virtues for the betterment of the country.
"These are Christian virtues and values we should exercise in the discharge of our duties as parents, children, employees and employers, and political, religious, and traditional leaders," said Rev. Agbi. He stressed that for Ghana to undergo positive change and develop rapidly, everyone must be faithful, loyal, and serve the country wholeheartedly as part of their civic responsibility.
Rev. Agbi also suggested that it's time for Ministers of the gospel to use the pulpit to address societal ills by preaching the unadulterated word of God, rather than prosperity messages that create fear and panic. "Let us use the word of God to admonish even those in positions of authority to refrain from fleecing the country rather than rallying them and getting their attention for our parochial and selfish interests," he stated.
He further emphasized that it is wrong to use the Bible for exploitation rather than as a standard of living for Christians. Rev. Agbi called upon Ghanaians to pray, sacrifice, unite, and work together to build the nation.
