MobileMoney Limited and ReFinD Collaborate to Enhance Financial Inclusion

Accra: MobileMoney Limited and the Retail Financial Distribution Research Initiative (ReFinD), a project under the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER), have signed an agreement to conduct research focused on Mobile Money Agent Networks. The collaboration aims to broaden financial inclusion among underserved and vulnerable communities.

According to Ghana News Agency, the partnership involves MobileMoney Limited offering implementation support, including access to Mobile Money agents and insights, to grantees under ReFinD. A statement from Madam Adwoa Wiafe, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, highlighted that the agreement would also focus on promoting the entry of agents into the market space and overcoming economic and non-economic constraints faced by agents in expanding access to finance.

Prof. Peter Quartey, Director of ISSER and Executive Director of ReFinD, emphasized that the partnership aligns with ReFinD's mission to improve financial service delivery to underserved communities. He expressed confidence that their research model and findings would serve as a blueprint for similar studies across MTN's African markets.

Mr. Shaibu Haruna, CEO of MobileMoney Limited, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with ReFinD, emphasizing their shared commitment to promoting financial inclusion and unlocking financial possibilities for every Ghanaian. Beyond the ReFinD project, MobileMoney Limited plans to work with ISSER on additional research initiatives aimed at expanding access to finance.
