Ministry Announces Tough Measures Against WASSCE Malpractice

Accra: The Deputy Minister of Education, Dr Clement Abas Apaak, has issued a stern warning to teaching and non-teaching staff about aiding examination malpractice during the upcoming 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

According to Ghana News Agency, Dr Apaak emphasized in a statement that any staff found guilty of participating in or facilitating exam cheating would face severe consequences. He highlighted the importance of maintaining the integrity of examinations, urging all involved to adhere to the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and accountability.

The 2025 WASSCE began recently with practical subjects, involving 461,640 final-year Senior High School students across the nation, comprising 207,381 males and 254,259 females. Dr Apaak stated that the Ministry of Education is collaborating with the Ghana Education Service, the West African Examinations Council, and security agencies to curb any form of malpractice.

Dr Apaak called on all personnel to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to the exams. He stressed the collective responsibility in safeguarding the fairness of the examination process and urged stakeholders to work together to uphold a culture of integrity, ensuring that students succeed on merit alone.

Additionally, Dr Apaak made it clear that the Ministry would not protect anyone involved in examination irregularities. He urged for zero tolerance towards exam malpractice nationwide, emphasizing the importance of nurturing integrity among the youth.

In his message to the candidates, Dr Apaak encouraged them to stay focused and confident, assuring them that their best effort is enough to succeed with integrity. He wished all candidates success as they navigate this significant academic milestone.
