Manyhia South: Special Voting Exercise Sees High Turnout.

Manyhia South: The special voting exercise at the Manyhia Constituency is progressing steadily at the designated polling station at the St. Anne's Anglican Church in Ashtown. A total of 347 voters are expected to vote in the special voting category at the constituency.According to Ghana News Agency (GNA), among the 347 partaking in the special voting in Manyhia, 171 had already cast their votes as of 12:23 pm local time, when GNA visited the centre. In the constituency, the electorates are expected to choose a parliamentary representative from among three contestants namely: Nana Agyei Baffuor Awuah (New Patriotic Party - NPP), Marfo Kwaku (Liberal Party of Ghana - LPG), and Rita Amonu Gyamfua Antwi (National Democratic Congress - NDC).The Ghana News Agency (GNA) observed a calm and coordinated exercise. Mr Kojo Bonsu, a key NDC member monitoring the process, in an interview with GNA, praised the peacefulness of the exercise and urged continued restraint. 'I'm here to ensure the process is free of malfeas ance. Where it's good, give praise; where it's bad, speak out,' he said.In Ghana, the special voting exercise is a legal facility only in general elections, that allows registered voters who would be on official duties on the election day to vote earlier. These include Electoral Commission staff, accredited media personnel, security officials, and essential service providers. Special voting usually occurs within seven days before the actual elections, and the votes are kept at a secured location and only counted alongside those cast on the election day.
