Accra: President John Dramani Mahama has urged his fellow African leaders to fight corruption, which robs nations of resources needed for development. President Mahama made the call in his address at the Presidential Session of the Africa Prosperity Dialogues 2025 in Accra.
According to Ghana News Agency, President Mahama emphasized the importance of promoting peace and security, stating that economic growth is unattainable in times of conflict. He called on leaders to view the Africa Prosperity Dialogue as a call to action, urging that decisions made should extend beyond resolutions, requiring urgency, determination, and a shared vision for prosperity.
Quoting Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana's first President, Mahama highlighted the intrinsic forces that unite Africans, suggesting that they are stronger than external influences that divide. He urged leaders to embrace unity and chart a new course for Africa's economic transformation.
President Mahama praised the Africa Prosperity Network for organizing the dialogues and expressed pride in Ghana hosting the event. He pledged his support for future summits, viewing them as a commitment to unlocking Africa's potential and positioning the continent in the global economic system.
The Africa Prosperity Network, a non-profit organization, facilitates the dialogues, aiming to create partnerships among various sectors in Africa. It seeks to advance the vision outlined in the African Union's Agenda 2063, focusing on prosperity and economic integration.
The Presidential Session also saw participation from other African leaders, including President Faure Gnassigbe of Togo and President Azali Assoumani of the Comoros.
