Yendi: Former President John Dramani Mahama, Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia, and Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul have extended their support to the Yendi Catholic Diocese during its 25th Anniversary celebrations with significant donations in both cash and kind.According to Ghana News Agency, former President Mahama, who is also the Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), contributed a seven-seater vehicle along with a cash donation of GHS 50,000. In a similar gesture, Dr. Bawumia, the Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), through the Defence Minister, donated GHS 100,000 in cash. Additionally, Mr. Nitiwul personally contributed GHS 30,000 to the program.The event not only celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Yendi Catholic Diocese but also marked the Episcopal Silver Jubilee of Bishop Emeritus Most Reverend Vincent Sowah Boi-Nai. The theme for the celebration was "25 years of Rural Evangelisation: challenges, prospects and way forward as the synodal church at Yendi in the Northern Region."In his message of goodwill, former President Mahama praised Bishop Emeritus Vincent Sowah Boi-Nai for his dedication to uniting various factions within the Yendi Municipality and for his role in restoring peace to Dagbon. He also acknowledged the church's efforts in establishing educational institutions in rural areas and its contributions to healthcare.Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul, representing Vice President Bawumia, expressed the government's appreciation for the church's partnership and urged the church to continue its commendable efforts.
