Low patronage greets voters exhibition exercise in Takoradi on first day

The nationwide Voters' Exhibition exercise by the Electoral Commission (EC) has recorded a low turnout at various centres in the Takoradi Metropolis.When the Ghana News Agency (GNA) team visited some polling stations within the Metropolis, it observed that the centres were empty with Exhibition Officers seated idle.?At the Takoradi Library Polling Station, Mr. Joseph Abi Mensah, the Exhibition Officer, said the exercise started at exactly 0700 hours, however, only 10 voters made of four females and six males had gone through the process as at 1120 hours.?Mr. George Koomson, the Exhibition Officer, at the Roman Catholic (R/C) School Exhibition Centre, told the GNA that only seven exhibitors, two females and five males, had turned up to check their details as at 1130 hours.?The situation was not different at the Takoradi Shell Filling Station 2, as only 15 registered voters, six females and nine males had turned up for the exhibition exercise.?Mr. Simon Anagli, the Exhibition Officer at the centre, a ttributed the low patronage to inadequate public education on the exercise, and hoped for a better turnout as the exercise progressed.?Meanwhile, Mr. Salia Fuseini, an exhibitor, who could not find his name in the register, expressed frustration, saying, 'I have visited about four centres yet, I cannot find my name in the District Register.'He appealed to the EC officials to take urgent steps to resolve the issue to enable him to exercise his franchise in the December 7 polls.?The seven-day Voter Exhibition Exercise is intended to offer an opportunity to registered voters to identify their polling stations and verify their details ahead of the December election.?Source: Ghana News Agency
