Let’s Make Akropong Great and Strong – Amankrahene


Gomoa Akropong: The Amankrahene of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, Nana Odoom Amanfo IV, has called upon the youth of Gomoa Akropong No2 to unite their efforts and resources to build a thriving and robust community. Nana Amanfo emphasized the importance of the current generation contributing significantly to the town’s development, following in the footsteps of their forebears.



According to Ghana News Agency, Nana Amanfo, who also serves as the Chief of Akropong No2, addressed this call to action during a durbar marking the conclusion of their Annual Akwambo festival at Gomoa Akropong in the Central region. He praised the youth for their active participation in the festival, which featured diverse activities such as a parade through the town’s main streets and educational quizzes involving schools from Akropong, Gomoa Aboso, and Gomoa Benso.



Nana Amanfo highlighted that the chiefs and planning committee are set to complete a multipurpose Information Communication and Technology center this year, aimed at enhancing computer literacy among school children. He also mentioned ongoing efforts to encourage students to study diligently and mature into responsible adults.



Looking ahead, Nana Amanfo revealed that the 2025 Akwambo festival would be dedicated to the youth, offering them an opportunity to deepen their understanding of their traditions and customs. He urged the youth to prioritize their education, viewing it as an essential tool for overcoming poverty.



Nana Dr. Agyarkwa Akyen III, Mankrado of Gomoa Akropong, questioned the legacy being left for future generations and encouraged all citizens to contribute to the town’s success. He especially appealed to those in the diaspora to engage in volunteer efforts to enhance local human and infrastructural resources, emphasizing the need for youth involvement in policy and program implementation.



Furthermore, Nana Kweke Saah II, Nifahene of the town, advised the youth to take education seriously and avoid drug abuse and other detrimental behaviors. He specifically cautioned young girls against premarital sex to prevent teen pregnancies and early marriages, which could hinder their future prospects.
