GAF Refutes Claims of Brigadier General Opoku’s Arrest

Accra: The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has dismissed as false a viral report alleging the arrest of Brigadier General Michael Opoku for illegal arms possession. In a statement issued in Accra, GAF clarified that a senior officer, formerly the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Central Command, remained actively on duty and had not been arrested for any offence.

According to Ghana News Agency, the statement affirmed that "General Michael Opoku remains an active member of the Ghana Armed Forces and is not under arrest for any crime committed." The release urged the public to disregard the misinformation and refrain from spreading disinformation that undermined public trust.

GAF assured citizens that any military personnel found culpable of criminal activity would face the full rigours of the law, just as any civilian.
