Kpone Traditional Council Urges TDC Ghana Limited to Address Boundary Disputes with Tema Traditional Council

Kpone: The Kpone Traditional Council (KTC) has issued an urgent call for TDC Ghana Limited to resolve the ongoing boundary disputes between Kpone and the Tema Traditional Council. Nii Tetteh Oglie II, the Chief of Nmlitsakpo, highlighted the pressing nature of these issues during a media briefing at the Kpone Traditional Council.

According to Ghana News Agency, the press conference was convened to address verbal altercations reportedly initiated by individuals from the Tema Traditional Area concerning a contested area known as Sega-Gonnor within the Kpone Traditional Area. Nii Oglie emphasized the importance of rectifying historical inaccuracies, asserting that the disputed land is historically significant to the people of Kpone.

He underscored his disapproval of recent social media statements by some Tema Newtown youths and the subsequent damage to a wall constructed by the West African Gas Pipeline on the land, describing these actions as ignorant and unlawful. Nii Oglie identified TDC Ghana Limited as the key entity capable of mediating the disputes involving Kpone, Tema, and Prampram, given that much of the disputed territory falls under TDC's jurisdiction.

Citing the TDC ordinance and Gold Coast Law, Nii Oglie insisted that Sega-Gonnor is not under Tema's authority and consequently cannot be claimed by them. He affirmed, "The Sega-Gonnor remained our ancestral home, and no other group can take it away from the people of Kpone."

Meanwhile, Nii Amarh Sompunu II, representing the Tema Traditional Council, refuted claims of involvement by Tema youth in damaging the wall, suggesting that Kpone's conclusions might be based on assumptions. The TDC is yet to issue a response to the matter.
