Kpone-Katamanso NCCE Launches Child Vaccination Awareness Campaign

Kpone-Katamanso: The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) at the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Office has initiated a child vaccination awareness campaign, targeting schools, identifiable groups, and Faith-Based Organisations (FBOs) throughout the municipality. The campaign spanned eleven communities, including Kpone, Zenu, Gbetsile, Oyibi, and Appolonia, aiming to educate the public on the significance of routine child immunisation in the fight against deadly childhood diseases.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Seth Sotie, the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal NCCE Director, spearheaded the campaign, highlighting the urgent need to enhance public awareness on child vaccination. He noted that while Ghana's immunisation programme has achieved notable progress, there are still gaps in public understanding and adherence, particularly in peri-urban and rural regions.

'We cannot afford to relax. There is a need to intensify this campaign to create the needed awareness, especially among parents, guardians, and caregivers who are key decision-makers when it comes to child health,' Mr. Sotie stated. He reaffirmed the NCCE's dedication to ensuring that every child in the municipality gains access to lifesaving vaccines, emphasizing the importance of ongoing stakeholder collaboration to reach this objective.

The awareness initiative, conducted in partnership with the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Health Directorate, included educational talks, distributing flyers, and community engagements. It aimed to dispel myths surrounding vaccines, promote adherence to the immunisation schedule, and encourage communal responsibility in safeguarding children.

At various basic schools, NCCE officers engaged students on the importance of immunisation, while interactive sessions with FBOs aimed to integrate vaccination education into religious platforms. The campaign was met with positive responses from the targeted communities, with many residents pledging to support and disseminate the message, ensuring no child is left behind.
