Koforidua: The Koforidua Technical University (KTU) has held its 21st congregation ceremony, marking the graduation of 1,332 students with Higher National Diploma (HND) and 797 students with Bachelor of Technology (B'Tech) degrees. Professor John Owusu, Vice-Chancellor of KTU, addressed the graduates, emphasizing the importance of embracing new challenges with strength and courage.According to Ghana News Agency, Professor Owusu highlighted the growth of the university since its establishment in 1997, when it started with 47 students. Today, KTU boasts a population of about 9,949 students, offering 25 Bachelor of Technology degrees and 17 HND programs. The Vice-Chancellor also announced the university's plans to introduce 14 master's degree programs by 2025, with courses such as MSc. Procurement and Supply Chain Management, MSc. Accounting and Finance, and MTech. Telecommunication and Network Engineering.In terms of infrastructure, Professor Owusu stated that the government has allocated 950,000 Ghana cedi s for academic facilities, infrastructure, faculty development, and research at the university. Additionally, KTU has received engineering equipment through the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET). The ongoing construction of a university clinic is expected to be completed next year, providing services to both the university community and the surrounding area. He acknowledged Professor David Kofi Essumang, the immediate past Vice-Chancellor, for initiating the clinic project.Dr. George Afrane, former Rector of the then Koforidua Polytechnic, served as the Guest Speaker at the ceremony. He advised the graduates to cultivate integrity, emphasizing its significance in building a reputable career, particularly in business.
