Klikor, Agbozume Residents Decry Neglect Over Deplorable Roads

Klikor: Residents of Klikor and Agbozume in the Ketu South Municipality have expressed frustration over the deteriorating state of roads in their communities, accusing successive governments of long-standing neglect. Heavily dependent on the roads for trade and transportation, residents say years of appeals have been ignored, and they are now calling for urgent intervention from the Member of Parliament, Municipal Chief Executive, and the Department of Feeder Roads.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Agbeshie Miwoekpor, popularly known as 'Oxygen' from Lotakor, described the Klikor-Amen Junction to Kpoglu route as impassable, even for tricycles. 'Even a tricycle cannot carry 15 bags of cement through that road. It's unacceptable,' he said, adding that other stretches, including Agbozume-Gborshime-Kpedzakorfe and the route from the Council to Task Corner, are also in dire condition.

Mr. Freedom Etsey Lavoe, alias 'Zigato,' from Avlorto, said the poor road network is crippling economic activity. 'These roads connect farming and fishing communities to the Agbozume market, yet they have been left abandoned for decades,' he noted.

Motorcycle riders Christian Gbele and John Kola Kunugbe said their work becomes nearly impossible during the rainy season. 'A GHC 5 trip can cost GHC 20 when it rains,' they lamented. Madam Mary Amedekanya, a trader, added that the slippery roads often cause accidents, especially for inexperienced riders. 'Sometimes you fall into the mud. If you're lucky, you only need a change of clothes. If not, you get injured.'

The residents are urging their leaders-especially MP Abla Dzifa Gomashie and the MCE-to treat the road crisis as a matter of urgency. Meanwhile, the Makorsor of Som¨, Togbui Adama III, used the occasion of former President John Mahama's recent visit to Agavedzi to appeal for road rehabilitation in Agbozume and adjoining communities.
