The Juaboso District Directorate of the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) has inaugurated its Inter-Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC) to ensure peace in the upcoming December 7 general elections in the area.The nine-member committee chaired by the Reverend Anthony Jones Mensah, has Juaboso District Police Commander, the District Chief Imam, representatives from the various political parties, Ghana National Federation of the Disability, NCCE, Electoral Commission, Media, youth groups and other stakeholders as members.Mr Stephen Tikoli, Juaboso District Director, NCCE, said as part of their mandate, the IPDC would monitor key threats to violence, including the use of provocative and abusive language by political parties and their members during campaign and declaration of election results.He added that the committee had the responsibility of ensuring that petty misunderstandings that could result in electoral violence and chaos were settled.Mr Sam Dramani, the Western North Regional NCCE Direc tor, who swore the committee members into office, charged them to adhere to the standard of mediation and foster unity among themselves, political parties, and their members.He further advised the committee members to be politically neutral before and during the election process.Source: Ghana News Agency
