The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and owner of Akonta Mining, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as I am a veteran miner, you can't push me out - Wontumi dares Mahama , has issued a strong warning to former President John Dramani Mahama. This comes in response to Mahama's pledge to amend laws and take stricter measures against illegal mining, including Akonta Mining in forest reserves if he wins the 2024 election.Chairman Wontumi, a well-known figure in the mining industry, expressed his dissatisfaction with Mahama's comments, suggesting that the NDC flagbearer intends to use his power to target and avenge his perceived enemies.Wontumi argued that the only difference between illegal and legal mining is proper documentation, a requirement he insists he has always met as a seasoned miner.Wontumi questioned John Mahama's ability to remove him from the forest reserves, as he has long-standing experience and expertise in the mining sector."Can you push Wontumi? Even ille gal and legal, what is the difference? The difference is a document. So, as a veteran miner, I know how to get documents done," he stated, emphasizing his legal right to continue his mining activities.Wontumi further accused Mahama of harbouring animosity towards the Ashanti Region, suggesting that Mahama's policies are designed to undermine the region's economic interests.'You want to win to avenge your enemies…anything concerning Ashanti, you don't like it,' he added.Source: Ghana Web
