Hunger Project Ghana Enhances Health and Hygiene at Agyapomaa Epicenter.

Abuakwa South: The Hunger Project Ghana, through its Holistic Opportunities for Positive Engagement in Maternal and Child Health (HOPE-MCH) initiative, has conducted a significant handing over ceremony at the Agyapomaa Epicenter in the Abuakwa South Municipality. The ceremony marked an effort to improve health and hygiene within the community by donating essential items to local health facilities and schools, made possible with support from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.According to Ghana News Agency, the supplies distributed included a motorcycle and hand washing kits, which comprised wash hand stations, gallons of liquid soap, and packs of tissue paper. The beneficiary schools that received these hand washing kits were Agyapomaa Methodist Primary and Junior High School, Gateway of Hope Preparatory School, Pechi MA Basic School, and Aboabo MA Basic School.Mrs. Afua Amponsah Addo, the School Health Education Programme (SHEP) Coordinator, and Mrs. Comfort Selby, the Deputy Director of Nur sing Services, expressed their gratitude for the donations, stating their commitment to ensuring the items are used effectively. They emphasized the critical role these resources will play in promoting hygiene and enhancing health outcomes within the community.Mr. Daniel Beloved Oppong, the project officer at Agyapomaa Epicenter, noted that the kits would significantly improve basic healthcare delivery, safe water usage, and effective hand washing practices. He highlighted the HOPE-MCH project's dedication to improving maternal health, particularly for children under three years old, their mothers, pregnant women, and individuals with disabilities.The support from The Hunger Project Ghana and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is expected to create a lasting positive impact on the Agyapomaa Epicenter. This initiative reflects the organizations' commitment to fostering healthier communities and ensuring accessible health resources, ultimately contributing to the well-being of residents in the Abuakwa South District.Community health nurses will utilize the motorcycle for child welfare clinic activities, including immunization efforts in hard-to-reach neighboring areas. The Hunger Project focuses on building self-reliance at the grassroots level by working with women as key change agents and forming effective partnerships with local governments to create a sustainable impact.
