Hungarian Ambassador Highlights Strengthened Hungary-Ghana Bilateral Relations.

Accra: Hungarian Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Tamás Fehés, has expressed his appreciation for the ongoing cordial relations between Hungary and Ghana and emphasized the importance of further strengthening the bilateral ties across various sectors. The Ambassador made these comments during an interview with the Ghana News Agency at the launch event for Ghana's new chip-embedded passport in Accra.According to Ghana News Agency, the chip-embedded passport was launched by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, marking a significant advancement in Ghana's travel documentation. The initiative, which began in 2016 under the Passports and Travel Certificates Act 1967 (NLCD 155), was a collaborative effort between Ghana's Foreign Ministry and Biometric Travel Solutions Limited, with significant input from Hungarian stakeholders. Ambassador Fehés highlighted Hungary's contribution to the project, noting that the passport incorporates Hungarian cutting-edge technology and will facilitate international travel for Ghanaian citizens.The Ambassador also reflected on the progression of Hungary-Ghana relations since the reopening of Hungary's Embassy in Accra in 2016. He remarked on the strong political ties, frequent high-level visits, and numerous cooperative ventures that have flourished between the two nations. Notably, the visit of President János Áder of Hungary to Accra in January 2022 and the recent visit by Hungarian Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Mr. Peter Szijarto in 2023 underscore the robust diplomatic engagement.Additionally, Hungary's involvement in infrastructure projects in Ghana was highlighted, including the construction of water and sanitation facilities in cities like Kumasi, Takoradi, and Tamale. The Ambassador also mentioned Hungary's role in building hospitals in northern Ghana, including two outpatient facilities near Bolgatanga and an eye hospital in Tamale. Educational contributions include the refurbishment of schools in Koforidua and the Don Bosco School in Tema.As Ghana approaches its Decembe r 7 general elections, Ambassador Fehés extended his wishes for a peaceful and dignified electoral process. The collaborative efforts between Hungary and Ghana across various fields illustrate the deepening and multifaceted nature of their bilateral relationship.
