Health Analyst Calls Momo Montessori Learners to Champion Environmental Causes

Hohoe: Mr. Divine Abotsi, the Hohoe Municipal Environmental Health Analyst, has made a compelling appeal to students of Momo Montessori Academy, urging them to embrace the role of environmental ambassadors and take proactive steps in safeguarding their surroundings.

According to Ghana News Agency, during the school's seventh graduation ceremony, Mr. Abotsi emphasized the critical role these young learners could play in fostering environmental awareness. He encouraged them to educate their peers about pressing issues like climate change, pollution, and the importance of conservation. Additionally, he proposed that the students could organize clean-up campaigns within their schools and communities, lead recycling initiatives, and reduce the use of single-use plastics. Planting school gardens and trees was also highlighted as a means to contribute to a healthier environment.

Mr. Abotsi underscored that as environmental ambassadors, the students would not merely perform tasks but spearhead a movement. They would act as advocates, reminding their peers to conserve resources, pick up litter, and devise innovative solutions to common environmental challenges. "So today, I call on every student here to rise to the challenge. Start small, start today, say no to littering, plant a tree, speak up when you see waste and most importantly, believe in your power to create change," he passionately stated.

He further elaborated on the impact of human activities on the environment, particularly highlighting the global concern over plastic pollution. Mr. Abotsi noted the international emphasis on reducing, reusing, and recycling plastics as a timely strategy to combat excessive environmental pollution.

The event, themed 'Making Hohoe Green and Clean: The Role of Environmental Ambassadors in our Schools,' also featured remarks from Mrs. Comfort Honu-Agbley, the Founder and Proprietress of the Academy. She praised the graduating class for their hard work and personal growth, attributing their achievements to the support and dedication of teachers and parents. Mrs. Honu-Agbley encouraged the graduates to uphold the values they learned and make the school proud in their future endeavors.
