Headmistress Appeals for Support for Commemorative Project at PRESEC, Bechem

Bechem: Management of the Presbyterian Senior High School (PRESEC), Bechem has earmarked a massive improvement in the internal road network for the school and called for support from all stakeholders. Ms Nancy Arthur, the Headmistress of the school, made this known in her address at the launch of the school's 60th anniversary celebration at Bechem, in the Ahafo Region.

According to Ghana News Agency, Ms Arthur stated that the project was a monument to honor the efforts of the Founding Fathers of the school, intended for completion by February 2026. She highlighted the poor condition of the roads within the school premises, describing them as dusty in the dry season and slippery when it rains. Ms Arthur emphasized the high costs associated with road construction and urged both the government and corporate entities to assist in realizing this initiative.

Ms Arthur further called upon stakeholders of the PRESEC, Bechem community to contribute significantly towards the project's success, aiming to enhance the school's environment for future generations. She also pointed out other pressing needs such as transport, furniture, and computers necessary for effective teaching and learning of ICT.

Reflecting on the school's history, Ms Arthur noted that PRESEC, Bechem began in 1966 with 50 students and has grown to a current population of 3,672 students and a staff strength of 286. This growth underscores the need for ongoing support to sustain the school's development for the benefit of the nation.

The Headmistress expressed gratitude to the school's founders, including the late Nana Fosu Gyeabour II, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, and the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, for their foundational roles in establishing the school. She highlighted the significance of the 60th anniversary as a time to renew commitment to education and inspire future generations.

The launch event, themed '60th Anniversary of Excellence in Education, as we Honour the Achievements and Growth of Our Beloved Institution', was attended by several dignitaries, including Reverend Benjamin Appiah, Messrs Abraham Fletcher, Charles Asiedu, and Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, among others.
