The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has held a day's training workshop for hospitality industry players in the Western North Region to expose them to best customer service and digital marketing.The workshop formed part of the GTA's nationwide tourism and hospitality training programme for hoteliers, restaurants operators and other major stakeholders in the industry across the nine districts of the region.It was to equip the participants with the skills and knowledge on ensuring best customer service delivery, and digital marketing tools to enhance the growth of the industry.Mr. Michael Kpingbi, the Western North Regional Director of the GTA, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the training was meant to give participants skills in customer service and digital marketing to help them become more competitive in the new and emerging markets.He mentioned that the project was part of the Ghana Cares Obatanpa programme which was under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture.He said the tou rism and hospitality sector suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic, so the programme was to ensure a faster recovery from the negative effects of COVID-19.Mr. Kpingbi tasked the participants to impart the knowledge they had gained to their staff to help achieve the intended results.'We at the Western North Ghana Tourism Authority would give you all the necessary support but would also not relent in closing down facilities that are not licensed,' The Director said.Mr. Suleman Ali, Acting Western North Regional Co-ordinating Director, speaking on behalf of the Western North Regional Minister, said the Ghana Cares Obatanpa programme by the government was to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on businesses, especially those in the tourism sector.He said training would help equip the youth and players in the tourism industry with skills and capacities that would enable them revitalise their business.He urged the participants to make good use of the training workshop and explore various innovative bu siness tools to boost investor confidence in the Region.He also assured participants of the government's commitments in ensuring that they all remained in business to contribute their quota towards national development.Mr. Patrick Kwasi Brenya, of Enyeyena Lodge, on behalf of the participants commended the Ghana Tourism Authority for the training, saying it would go a long way to help them to improve upon their services for quality delivery.Source: Ghana News Agency
