GTA Advocates for Stakeholder Collaboration to Boost Tourism in Juaboso District

Accra: The Western North Regional branch of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has called on stakeholders to collaborate in order to elevate the Juaboso District's recognition for its extensive tourism potential. Mr. Michael Kpingbi, the Western North Regional GTA Director, highlighted the district's prospects during an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at the conclusion of this year's World Tourism Day celebrations held at the Sefwi-Bonzain waterfalls in the Juaboso District of the Western North Region.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Kpingbi emphasized that the newly discovered waterfall in Bonzain could significantly boost tourism and enhance the economic prospects for residents in the area. He noted that sustainable tourism plays a crucial role in creating opportunities for local communities, including those in Bonzain and its surroundings, by preserving biodiversity and promoting cross-cultural understanding.

Mr. Kpingbi urged residents of the Juaboso District to adopt beneficial tourism practices. He stressed the importance of combating illegal mining and regulating harmful human activities that threaten the environment, as tourism cannot flourish in polluted environments.

Nana Affum Panin II, the Atipemhene of Bonzain, representing the Chief of Bonzain, underscored the economic benefits of tourism and committed to working with the GTA to maximize the potential of the Bonzain waterfall. The chief revealed plans to identify additional natural tourist sites and engage relevant institutions to promote them.

Mr. Samuel Kwabena Sarfo, Acting Coordinating Director for the Juaboso District Assembly, speaking on behalf of the Juaboso District Chief Executive, pledged to provide the necessary attention to the Bonzain waterfalls and other tourist sites in the district to help bolster the local economy.

Residents interviewed by the Ghana News Agency expressed appreciation for the focus on the waterfalls by the GTA and urged the government to improve the access road to the site.
