Global Evangelical Church Synod Calls for Peaceful By-Elections and National Stability

Accra: The 2025 Synod of the Global Evangelical Church has urged the Electoral Commission (EC), political parties, security agencies, the media, and relevant stakeholders to implement proactive strategies to prevent electoral violence during upcoming by-elections. This appeal aims to preserve peace and stability within the country.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Synod convened from August 8 to 10 at the Church's Victory Chapel in Ho-Fiave, concluding with a communiqu© under the theme: 'Preach Christ and His Second Coming.' Delegates expressed their gratitude for the nation's peaceful 2024 general election and emphasized the importance of vigilance to uphold harmony in future electoral events.

The communiqu© also highlighted the Church's message to the Christian community about the certainty of Jesus Christ's second coming, encouraging believers to continue spreading the gospel amidst moral challenges.

Additionally, the Synod extended condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, the government, and affected families following the August 6 helicopter crash in Adansi Sikaman, which resulted in the loss of eight officials. The Synod called for a swift investigation into the incident and the implementation of preventive measures.

The Church commended the government's efforts in combating illegal mining, known as galamsey, and urged continued dedication to eradicate this issue, protect the environment, and promote sustainable livelihoods. It also praised the Ghana cedi's recent appreciation against major foreign currencies, advocating for sound fiscal policies to sustain this progress for the benefit of citizens.

Finally, the Synod appealed to the public to practice conscientious waste management, particularly in handling plastic waste, to prevent environmental pollution.
