Accra: The Energy Commission (EC) has announced its continued commitment to fostering a conducive environment for businesses, including producers of smart energy solutions, to prosper. This initiative is part of Ghana’s broader strategy to transition towards green energy, benefiting companies like Huawei whose advanced technologies are playing a crucial role.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Julius Nkansah Nyarko, Senior Manager, Renewable Energy Regulations at the Energy Commission, highlighted the importance of standards and codes of practice in supporting the growth of entities within the sector while ensuring consumer protection. Speaking at the Huawei Ghana Partner Summit and the launch of their C and I Innovative Product, Mr. Nyarko emphasized the Commission’s collaboration with industry players to achieve Ghana’s target of 10 percent renewable energy penetration by 2030.
Mr. Nyarko praised Huawei for their new product, the LUNA2000-215 Series. This series, known as the world’s first C and I Smart Hybrid Cooling Battery with a capacity of 215 kWh, is designed to cater to small and medium-scale businesses, including food and beverage companies and sachet water producers. The battery features a robust safety architecture, a unique hybrid cooling system, and a Round Trip Efficiency (RTE) of 91.3 percent.
Mr. Sampson Zickson, Senior Business Development Manager at Huawei Digital Power, West Africa, explained that the Huawei Smart Battery Solution would deliver high-quality power to commercial and industrial consumers without requiring a transformer. He stated that the solution is innovative and reliable, marking a new era where solar power is a feasible option for C and I companies, including those in steel manufacturing.
Mr. Zickson also noted that solar equipment and battery solutions are now cost-effective and accessible, achieving grid parity with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in terms of cost. He emphasized the LUNA200-215 Series’ superior RTE, advanced temperature control, and extended lifespan compared to other products on the market.
The summit and product launch attracted stakeholders from the energy transition and smart energy solutions industry, including government officials and foreign investors, reflecting the growing interest and investment in Ghana’s renewable energy sector.
