Dambai: Ghanaians deserve a certificate for enduring the hardships under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, according to Mr John Dramani Mahama, the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Mr Mahama made these remarks during his regional tour at Dambai lorry station, where he highlighted the economic struggles and difficulties faced by Ghanaians under the current administration.According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Mahama claimed that the NPP government has mismanaged Ghana's economy, leading to widespread economic hardship and financial distress among citizens. He emphasized that the price of kenkey, a traditional Ghanaian staple, has significantly increased; a ball of kenkey, which used to cost GHC1 under the NDC regime, now costs GHC5 under the NPP administration. The Flagbearer further pointed out that fuel prices in Ghana have risen substantially, with Super XP currently costing around GHC13.43 and Diesel XP at GHC14.29. This increase is seen as contributing to the broader economic c hallenges faced by the population. In another development, Mr Mahama assured that, if elected, his government would focus on developing the six newly created regions. This development would align with the NDC's focus on regional growth and involve investing in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and economic opportunities. He noted that the NDC government would prioritize the unique needs of each region, fostering growth and improving living standards for residents.
