Ghana Mourns Tragic Loss of Ministers and Officials in Helicopter Crash

Accra: The Management of Jospong Group of Companies has expressed condolences to the Government of Ghana and families affected by the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of two ministers and six others on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, the Executive Chairman of Jospong Group, mourned the loss of the individuals by paying tribute and placing a bouquet of flowers at the Flagstaff House ceremonial garden.

According to Ghana News Agency, Dr. Agyepong stated, "This is a heartbreaking loss - to their families, to the Government, and to the Nation they served with honour and distinction. Ghana has lost true patriots." He extended condolences on behalf of the Jospong Group, offering thoughts and prayers to the bereaved families.

A state funeral is scheduled for Friday, August 15, 2025, to honor the departed, including Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence. Separate services for Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security, and Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025.

Other victims include Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC); Mr. Samuel Aboagye, former NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Obuasi East; Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala; Flying Officer Manaen Twum-Ampadu; and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah. The crash occurred in the Adansi area of the Ashanti Region as the victims were en route to an anti-illegal mining event, the Responsible Co-operative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP) in Obuasi.

Flags have been flown at half-mast to honor the deceased, while citizens, diplomatic missions, and international organizations have paid tribute to the victims, offering condolences to their families and the nation.
