Ghana Gas Debunks Claims of Unsuccessful Maintenance Works

Accra: Management of Ghana National Gas Limited Company (GNGLC) has debunked allegations that the company's recent maintenance on the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant has been unsuccessful.

According to Ghana News Agency, a statement signed by Mr Richard Ernest Kirk-Mensah, Head of Corporate Affairs at Ghana Gas, addressed claims made by a New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Oforikrom constituency in the Ashanti Region, which were shared on social media and other platforms. The statement categorically refuted these reports as false and misleading.

The statement outlined that the planned shutdown maintenance works included activities such as the calibration of safety systems, overhaul of the main transmission compressor, servicing of the heat medium system, and replacement of the heat medium system fluid, all done as per the required standards and recommendations. It emphasized that the maintenance exercise was completed successfully, ahead of schedule, and adhered to international safety and operational standards. The plant has been restarted and is functioning safely, a fact that can be verified by upstream and downstream partners.

Furthermore, the statement highlighted that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Deputy CEO in charge of Technical and Operations participated in the maintenance activities and praised the technical team for completing the job ahead of schedule. This, they said, reaffirms Ghana Gas' commitment to professional excellence and energy security.

The company assured stakeholders and the general public that the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant is in optimal condition and continues to provide a reliable gas supply to power producers and industrial users. The statement concluded by urging media outlets and commentators to verify information through official channels before publication to avoid misleading the public and causing unnecessary anxiety.
