Ghana Card Distribution Set to Begin in Volta Region on March 26

Accra: The Volta Regional Minister, Mr. James Gunu, has announced that individuals can begin collecting their Ghana Cards from their respective National Identification Authority (NIA) District Offices starting Wednesday, March 26. This initiative follows the receipt of 33,707 Ghana Card backlogs intended for 18 districts in the region, along with an additional 19,500 blank cards for new registrations.

According to Ghana News Agency, the cards were officially handed over to the Regional Minister by a delegation from the NIA, led by Mr. William A.E. Darlas, Acting Head of Corporate Affairs. Mr. Gunu acknowledged the ongoing difficulties faced by people in the region in acquiring their Ghana Cards, which are essential for accessing services such as banking, SIM card registration, and social services. He described this development as a major breakthrough in addressing those challenges.

To facilitate a seamless distribution process, Mr. Gunu has personally handed over the cards to the Regional Director of the NIA for distribution. Recognizing the importance of efficient distribution, he has mobilized volunteers to assist the NIA with processing registrations and has provided his personal vehicle to aid in transporting the cards to district offices.

Furthermore, to ensure widespread public awareness, Mr. Gunu has engaged the Information Services Department (ISD) to share information, ensuring all eligible individuals are informed about the collection dates and locations. He emphasized that this effort aligns with the government's 'Resetting Agenda', which aims to enhance service delivery and improve government system efficiency for all citizens.

Mr. Gunu urged all eligible individuals to seize this opportunity and visit their respective NIA District Offices starting March 26 to collect their Ghana Cards.
