GDCA Marks 40th Anniversary Celebrations, Denmark Seminar at Dalun.

Tamale: The Ghana Developing Communities Association (GDCA), an NGO headquartered in Tamale and working across the northern part of the country, has marked its 40th anniversary celebrations at Dalun in the Kumbungu District of Northern Region.According to Ghana News Agency, the anniversary was a dual celebration, marking GDCA's four decades of impactful community service and development, as well as the 28th edition of the Denmark Seminar. This seminar is a celebration of the longstanding partnership between GDCA and its Danish collaborators. The event drew various stakeholders, including traditional authorities and representatives from NGOs, civil society organisations, and community-based organisations, all gathered under the theme: 'Inclusive Education for Sustainable Development'.Dr Osman Al-Hassan, Chairman of the GDCA Governing Board, addressed attendees, highlighting the numerous impactful interventions implemented by GDCA and its partners over the past 40 years. He noted the organisation's signific ant reach, impacting 50,000 to 60,000 individuals and families in deprived communities through initiatives in education, livelihoods, women's economic empowerment, social accountability, youth empowerment, and climate change.Dr Al-Hassan also paid tribute to the organisation's pioneers, acknowledging the foundational work of figures such as Professor Abubakr Al-Hassan and Dr Yohannes Holm. He elaborated on the Denmark-Ghana partnership, which began in 1989 with a seminar designed to introduce an innovative and inclusive educational approach aimed at breaking the cycle of illiteracy in northern Ghana.
