Tema: The Methodist Church of Ghana has inducted the Right Reverend Ebenezer Popeson Adjei as the new bishop for the Tema Diocese. The Most Rev. Professor J. Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, the Presiding Bishop, officially inducted Rt. Rev. Adjei, marking him as the sixth bishop of the Tema Diocese. He assumes this role following the tenure of Rt. Rev. Samuel Ofori Akyea.
According to Ghana News Agency, the induction ceremony included the presentation of several significant items to the new bishop. These included a ring, skullcap, pectoral cross, pastoral staff, Holy Bible, and a copy of the church's constitution. During his address, the Presiding Bishop encouraged Rt. Rev. Adjei to embrace the companionship of God's presence, referencing Exodus 33:14, to ensure success in his ministry.
The Presiding Bishop further advised the new bishop to prioritize walking in the will of God over human advice to avoid potential pitfalls in leadership. He also cautioned Rt. Rev. Adjei against adopting a mindset of complaint and urged him to serve without bitterness in his new position.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Rt. Rev. Adjei expressed that the induction is a significant responsibility in his ministry, which he intends to fulfill by God's grace. He quoted, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me," and assured that he would adhere to the charge of serving the church without complaints.
Rt. Rev. Adjei emphasized that those who work for God are never devoid of resources, expressing confidence that God will provide the spiritual and human resources necessary for his duties. He encouraged Christians to maintain hope and unity for the sake of national cohesion.
Before his induction, Rt. Rev. Adjei was actively engaged in various roles at the Enchi Calvary Methodist Church, including assistant class leader, local preacher, chorister, and circuit youth organiser. His theological journey began at Trinity Theological Seminary, Legon, where he completed a Diploma in Theology in 1996. He has since served in multiple circuits and dioceses, including the Tema Circuit St. Paul Cathedral, Mt. Zion Society, and Tema West Circuit.
