GCAA and Boundary Commission Enhance Airspace Cooperation

Accra: Brigadier General Anthony Ntem, Commissioner-General of the Ghana Boundary Commission, visited the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) to initiate collaboration on airspace boundary issues at Kotoka International Airport. Rev. Stephen Wilfred Arthur, Acting Director-General of GCAA, welcomed the delegation and acknowledged the role of the Commission in resolving boundary issues affecting the Accra Flight Information Region (FIR).

According to Ghana News Agency, Brig. Gen. Ntem outlined the Commission's functions, which include airspace delimitation and dispute resolution involving neighboring countries. He emphasized the importance of collaboration with GCAA as part of the Airspace Boundary Technical Committee to manage airspace boundary concerns. Additionally, he presented Rev. Arthur with a copy of the Commission's new enabling legislation, Act 1123, which replaced Act 795.

Rev. Arthur assured the Commission of GCAA's full cooperation, stating the organization's commitment to working closely with the Commission. He expressed the desire for both entities to learn about each other's industry and enhance their collaboration. Rev. Arthur also mentioned that GCAA would provide the Commission with relevant technical charts and airspace coordinates to support its work.

Mr. Theophilus Adonis Aryee Ago, Acting Deputy Director-General (Technical), noted that the Authority would deepen its engagement with the Commission to improve understanding of Ghana's shared air boundaries.
