Accra: The Greater Accra Regional branch of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) is set to launch its legal clinics and prisons outreach programme on July 3, 2025, as part of its commitment to enhancing access to justice. The outreach initiatives will be held at Efua Sutherland Park, Ashaiman Lorry Station, and Nsawam Prisons, reflecting a broad approach to engaging with various communities.According to Ghana News Agency, the program was announced by Ms. Isabel Boaten, President of the Regional Bar, during the launch of the 2025 Law Week. The Law Week, scheduled for July 2-5, 2025, carries the theme 'The Future-Fit Lawyer: Enhancing Technology, Entrepreneurship, Excellence and Service to the Community,' and aims to address the evolving nature of legal practice.Ms. Boaten emphasized that the legal clinics are designed to provide sustainable access to justice, offering free legal support to the public and underserved communities. This initiative reaffirms the Bar's dedication to justice and community service. Th e theme of the Law Week underscores the necessity for legal professionals to adapt to the changing demands of the field by equipping themselves with relevant tools and skills.The Bar will host a full-day conference on July 2, featuring three Continuing Legal Education sessions. These sessions will delve into global trends toward 2030, the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the legal landscape, and the future of legal work. The conference will also explore how lawyers can leverage AI for increased efficiency and value.Ms. Boaten highlighted the importance of developing a skill set, attitudes, and mindset that will enable lawyers to remain relevant. The goal is not only to nurture highly competent lawyers but also to encourage them to mentor others intentionally. The Bar is focused on increasing awareness about the role of lawyers in ensuring access to justice and utilizing the innovation of tech-savvy young lawyers to achieve this.The Regional Bar plans to collaborate with the Legal Aid Commission to bolster legal aid services. Lawyers will be encouraged to provide pro bono services, support tech-enabled legal outreach, and work together to enhance access to justice. The Law Week will conclude with a dinner dance and networking event on July 5, offering members from private practice, legal departments, and academia a chance to connect.
