Bibiani: The Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC) has organized a training workshop on the electoral process for first-time voters at two schools in the Western North Region. The initiative aimed at empowering young voters took place at Bibiani Senior High School and the College of Health and Allied Sciences in Sefwi Anhwiaso, located within the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality.According to Ghana News Agency, the workshop was conducted in collaboration with the Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) and supported by funding from the US Embassy in Ghana. Dubbed 'Youth Voice-Activating First-Time Voters for Ghana's General Elections,' the program was designed to provide participants with the necessary knowledge to contribute to a free, fair, accountable, transparent, and inclusive electoral process in the upcoming elections.Mr. Bright Ayivi, the Assistant Programme Officer at GII, encouraged the students to engage actively in the 2024 general elections, emphasizing that voting is a crucial component of the country's democratic framework. He advised the students to maintain their independence and integrity in the voting process, urging them to make informed decisions without being swayed by political party leaders.Mr. Prince Amoako Baah, the Electoral Officer for the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality, provided the students with detailed information about the electoral process. This included guidance on voting timelines, the significance of casting their votes correctly, and the correct voting procedures to minimize the occurrence of rejected and spoiled ballots. He emphasized the importance of voting based on policies related to healthcare, education, infrastructure development, and employment opportunities for graduates, rather than accepting incentives from politicians.
