Accra: Fidelity Bank Ghana has been adjudged the 'Best Bank in Financial Inclusion in West Africa' at the 15th Africa Bank 4.0 Summit and Awards - West Africa, held at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra. The award, announced in an official press release to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, recognises the bank's pioneering role in expanding financial access to millions of unbanked and underbanked Ghanaians over the past decade.According to Ghana News Agency, the accolade underscores Fidelity Bank's commitment to bridging the financial gap in Ghana. Mr Julian Opuni, Managing Director of Fidelity Bank Ghana, emphasized the bank's dedication to inclusive banking, highlighting the impact of their innovative products and strategic partnerships in driving economic growth.Dr David Okyere, Head of Agency Banking, reflected on the bank's journey, pointing out that in 2011, about 70 percent of Ghanaians were unbanked. This insight led to the creation of solutions like the Smart Account and a nationwide Agency Ban king network, which now includes approximately 8,000 agents.Fidelity Bank's initiatives, including the simplified Smart Account and strategic partnerships with Ghana Post and Melcom, have expanded banking accessibility. The bank's financial literacy programs and digital banking solutions have further empowered over 1.5 million previously unbanked individuals.Mr Samuel Abbey Dodoo, Head of Inclusive Banking, reiterated the bank's commitment to financial inclusion, aiming to leverage technology and strategic partnerships to enhance access to quality financial services. Future plans include introducing products like the Smart Loan and expanding digital financial literacy efforts.Since its inception in 2006, Fidelity Bank has established itself as a leader in financial inclusion, digital banking, and corporate banking in Ghana, operating a comprehensive network of branches and agent locations nationwide.
