Sefwi-Wiawso: Queen mothers and women groups within the Sefwi-Wiawso Municipality of the Western North Region have embarked on a unity peace walk through some principal streets of Sefwi-Wiawso to campaign for peace before, during, and after the December 7 polls.According to Ghana News Agency, the walk was organized by the Resource Foundation, in partnership with Gender Centre for Empowering Development, with funding support from UN Women, European Union, and the Canadian Embassy in Ghana. The initiative aimed to remind the people of the Western North Region about the importance of protecting and safeguarding peace and stability in the country.Mr. Mensah Elliott Steven, Executive Coordinator of Resources Foundation, addressed the gathering and called on citizens to join hands to ensure a peaceful conduct of the general election to help build a prosperous country for all. He emphasized the strength found in diversity and urged for respect and constructive dialogue among people working towards common goals.N ana Nkisinish Dua II, Queen Mother of Anwhiam, speaking on behalf of the queen mothers present at the event, urged Ghanaians to consider the well-being of women and children and to embrace peace as a pathway to development. She cautioned the youth against being used by politicians to incite trouble, highlighting that violence adversely affects women, children, and the elderly the most.The queen mother further encouraged parents, especially women, to advise their children to resist any attempts to engage in chaos on election day, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace for the country's progress.
