Accra: The Ejura Traditional Council in the Ejura-Sekyeredumasi Municipality has taken a significant step in supporting law enforcement by renting an eight-bedroom apartment for senior police officers posted to the Ashanti North Command of the Ghana Police Service. The newly rented apartment comprises four separate two-bedroom self-contained units, which will serve as residences for four senior police officers.
According to Ghana News Agency, the apartment was rented at a cost of GHS 200,000.00 for a period of two years. Barima Osei Hwedie II, the Ejurahene, formally handed over the premises to the police command, emphasizing the importance of community support in enhancing the security framework within the traditional area.
The initiative follows the construction of an ultra-modern divisional police headquarters at Ejura, which led to the deployment of additional police personnel to the area. Barima Osei Hwedie highlighted that the rental cost was collectively covered by the Ejura Traditional Council and local farmers, reflecting a community effort to bolster security measures.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Mr. Jude Cobina, the Ashanti North Regional Police Commander, expressed his gratitude to the Ejurahene and the Traditional Council, acknowledging the timely nature of the support. He urged the police officers to ensure the proper maintenance of the facility and reiterated the police force's dedication to safeguarding lives and property in the region.
