Educationist Calls for Peace and Fairness in 2024 Elections.

Anaji: The Director of the Christ The King Methodist Child and Youth Development Centre at Anaji, Mr. Bernard Ekow Aggrey, has appealed to all stakeholders to ensure peace, transparency, and fairness prevail before, during, and after the 2024 election results are declared. He emphasized that such measures would alleviate fears of rigging, collusion, and other electoral irregularities typically associated with elections.According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Aggrey made these remarks after a prefectorial election was held at the school, serving as a simulation for the upcoming December elections. The event was organized by the Centre in collaboration with the office of the Electoral Commission in the Essikado-Ketan constituency, aiming to familiarize children with student politics.In the election, Master Palmer Gaisie was elected as the Head Boy of the Centre, securing 136 votes against Master Samuel Anartey, who garnered 60 votes. Miss Philomena Acquah emerged as the Head Girl with 79 votes, surpassing Nana Ama Gyesi, who received 59 votes. Other students were elected to various positions, including Protocol Prefect, Compound Prefect, Dining Hall Prefect, and Sports Prefect.Mr. Aggrey noted that the secret ballot, a first for the school, introduced the children to their civic duty of voting during national elections. He highlighted that this practical experience complemented their Social Studies and Government coursework.An external observer from Takoradi, Madam Joyce Obiri-Yeboah, praised the Electoral Commission for maintaining a peaceful atmosphere during the elections. She commended the children for their understanding of the voting process, stating that this exercise was a precursor to the December 07 general elections.Mr. Felix Kyei, who represented the Essikado-Ketan constituency officer of the Electoral Commission, also applauded the students for their maturity and conduct during the polls.
