Goaso: Mr Gideon Yeboah, the Asunafo North District Officer of the Electoral Commission (EC) in the Ahafo Region, has cautioned the media to be circumspect in reporting from election flashpoints or hotspot constituencies on election day. This guidance aims to help maintain peace in those areas and the nation at large, as stated during a media training session on effective election coverage at Goaso, the Ahafo Regional capital.According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Yeboah highlighted that a total of 88,318 eligible voters spread across 210 polling stations in the constituency were registered and expected to cast their ballots on Saturday, December 7. Additionally, 35 flashpoints have been identified in the constituency. Mr Yeboah also mentioned that 1,428 eligible voters undertook voter transfer, with 572 voters participating in the special voting exercise.He urged the media to maintain objectivity, accuracy, and fairness in their reportage to promote peaceful elections. He also encouraged journalists to repo rt any suspicious characters or odd behaviors to the security services. Furthermore, Mr Yeboah advised the electorate against writing anything on the ballot papers, emphasizing that they should use their thumbs to mark their choices of candidates. He cautioned that any additional inscription on the ballot paper could lead to a spoiled ballot.
