Sunyani: Professor Peter Appiahene, a Commissioner of the Electoral Commission (EC), has announced that the Commission expects voter turnout to exceed 85% in the upcoming elections scheduled for December 7. Prof. Appiahene made this statement after casting his ballot at the Bono Regional Police Headquarters in Sunyani, where the EC's special voting exercise is currently underway.According to Ghana News Agency, Prof. Appiahene emphasized the EC's preparedness for Election 2024, urging electorates to participate actively by voting for their preferred political parties and Parliamentary Candidates. He highlighted the Commission's aim to ensure maximum participation, stating, "As a Commission we want all the electorates to participate in voting and that is the essence of printing the ballot papers."The Ghana News Agency reported that a total of 1,137 electorates were expected to take part in the special voting exercise at the constituency. Voting was reported to be progressing smoothly at the two voting cente rs established by the EC at the regional police headquarters in Sunyani.Miss Winifred Agyekum, the Sunyani Municipal Electoral Officer, praised the voters for their orderly conduct during the special voting exercise and encouraged the same behavior among all voters on December 7.
