Director Emphasizes Key Pillars for National Progress on Ghana’s Independence Day

Akatsi: Mr Emmanuel Ikpe Quacou, the Akatsi South Municipal Coordinating Director, highlighted the essential pillars for national progress, emphasizing discipline, environmental cleanliness, rejection of corruption, and hard work as fundamental to national pride.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Ikpe Quacou delivered these remarks during a speech read on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama at the Akatsi ARS Basic School premises, following a general clean-up exercise marking Ghana's 68th Independence Day celebration. The theme of the event, 'Reflect, Review, and Reset,' served as a call to action, urging citizens to assess their progress and commit to a better future for Ghana.

This year's Independence Day celebration in the Akatsi Municipality deviated from the traditional parade of school children, opting instead for a comprehensive clean-up of the entire area. Mr Ikpe Quacou stressed the importance of reflecting on whether the values that led to independence are being upheld and called for the cultivation of discipline in all aspects of life.

Mr Ikpe Quacou underscored that the clean-up exercise was a reminder of the shared responsibility of maintaining a clean environment. He called for a change in attitudes toward cleanliness, highlighting that a clean environment is vital for a healthy and productive nation. He urged citizens to practice discipline in school, work, and society, while also rejecting corruption and demanding accountability to contribute to national development.

Participants expressed satisfaction with the well-organized exercise. Mr Karim Umar Ayaana, Akatsi South Director of Education, advocated for continuous efforts to ensure the cleanliness of the Municipality. The celebration also included a free health screening by officials from St Paul's Hospital Limited, aligning with the theme 'Reflect, Review and Reset.' The event saw the participation of students from 20 schools, residents, assembly members, government officials, and other stakeholders.
