Deputy Minority Leader Warns Against Fraudulent Social Media Accounts

ACCRA: The Deputy Minority Leader in Parliament, Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has issued a warning to the public regarding fraudulent social media accounts impersonating him, particularly on Facebook. These unauthorized accounts are allegedly being used to deceive individuals with false promises of assistance, including recruitment into security services and job opportunities.

According to Ghana News Agency, a statement signed by Mr. Buah and circulated on Wednesday reminded citizens to be cautious and not fall prey to these scams. Mr. Buah clarified that his official presence on social media includes a verified Facebook account with a blue badge and over 21,000 followers, along with a verified Twitter account, previously known as X.

Mr. Buah emphasized that these verifications distinguish his legitimate accounts from fake ones. He further noted that he does not maintain any accounts on platforms such as Instagram or TikTok. The statement provided official social media handles for public reference: Facebook: @Armah-Kofi Buah1 and Twitter: @Armah-Kofi Buah.

The statement urged the public to ignore and disengage from any fraudulent accounts and to report them to either Mr. Buah or the Ghana Police Service for investigation and possible prosecution of the scammers.
