Cyber Security Authority Launches ‘Safe Digital Ghana’ Campaign, Signs Edem as Brand Ambassador

Accra: The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has launched the 'Safe Digital Ghana' Campaign 2025 with a call on Ghanaians to take an active role in protecting themselves and their communities online. The initiative is a strategic, national advocacy and awareness campaign aimed at fostering responsible digital citizenship and empowering Ghanaians to stay safe online.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Director-General of CSA, Mr Divine Selease Agbeti, emphasized at the launch event that 'Cybersecurity is not the sole responsibility of institutions.' A significant highlight of the event was the formal signing of an ambassadorial agreement with celebrated musician and digital advocate Mr Denning Edem Hotor, who now serves as CSA's official Brand Ambassador. The event was themed: 'Securing Our Digital Future: CSA and Edem Launch 'Safer Digital Ghana' Campaign with Powerful National Call to Action.'

Mr Agbeti noted that the campaign is anchored by a powerful partnership with Edem, which amplifies the message boldly and inclusively. It is a high-impact public awareness and education initiative designed to promote cybersecurity best practices across all age groups and sectors, including children, the public, businesses, and government. The campaign also aims to combat cybercrime and digital threats, such as phishing, scams, misinformation, online blackmail, and data breaches.

The Director-General highlighted that the campaign seeks to enhance digital resilience among individuals, schools, communities, and institutions, while raising awareness of the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038) and citizens' roles in digital safety. With over 30 targeted topics and sector-specific interventions, the campaign is grounded in real-world risks and supported by intensive media, digital, community, and stakeholder engagements.

Mr Agbeti pointed out that CSA's strategic choice of Edem as Brand Ambassador brings star power, influence, and cultural connection to the campaign, particularly among Ghana's youth and digital-native generation. 'Edem is a respected public figure with an authentic passion for digital advocacy,' he added.

The campaign spans all 16 regions, using multiple languages and formats to reach Ghanaians from all walks of life, with a particular focus on four main pillars or target audiences: children, the public, businesses, and government. It aims to equip children and the public with safe internet practices, online privacy, and digital citizenship, guide businesses to secure their infrastructure and data, and support government institutions to strengthen their cybersecurity frameworks.

Mr Hotor expressed, 'This is more than a campaign, it is a movement. If we do not act now to educate, inspire and protect our people online, especially the youth, we will pay for it in ways we cannot afford. I am proud to stand with CSA in this urgent national mission.' He also commended the CSA and the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations for entrusting him with this vital responsibility.

He emphasized the importance of the digital world in shaping lives, noting that with just a few clicks, people can access information, forge connections, and seize opportunities that were once unimaginable. As Brand Ambassador, Mr Hotor is committed to using his platform to promote cyber hygiene, encourage the reporting of cyber incidents, and champion safe internet practices, particularly among young people.
