The Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia's digitization drive has received amorous admiration from the rural folks at Atudrobesa, Rubi and adjoining villages, in the Tano North constituency of the Ahafo Region. With the inauguration of a telephony facility in the area, the residents could not hide their joy and told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview on the side-lines of the inauguration of the facility at Atudrobesa that they were highly excited because they could now join the digital space.Hitherto, the residents were cut-off, unable to communicate or connect with their relations, elsewhere, and abroad because of the poor telecommunication network in the area. However, through the support of Dr Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag bearer, Dr Freda Prempeh, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tano North Constituency built the telephony facility to advance the digitization drive.'Now you can see that the network here is clear, and we no more struggle to connect to the internet. Every body is happy to reach out to their relations outside' a nurse at the Atudrobesa Community-based Health Service (CHPS) compound stated.'In fact, we want to send our appreciation through you to Alhaji Dr Bawumia, the government and our MP and let them know that we will forever be grateful to them for addressing the poor telecommunication and internet networks here.' another health worker at the facility added. The workers who pleaded anonymity, commended the NPP government and the MP for the level of development brought to the area, including the CHPS compound and potable drinking water.Dr Prempeh indicated that the facility had connected and provided quality network and internet to about three major communities and several villages in the area. With the improved network, the MP urged teachers, students and pupils in the area to use their mobile phones productively for learning and minimise excessive use of the social media.Dr Prempeh later inaugurated 10 mechanised boreholes she constructed at some of the communities in the constituency and assured the people of her commitment to tackle their immediate development needs before she exited parliament in 2025.Source: Ghana News Agency
