Christians Encouraged to Protect the Environment at Church Anniversary

Kumasi: The Reverend Samuel Ahima-Yeboah, Asante Presbytery Chairperson of the Presbyterian Church, Ghana (PCG), has urged church members to be mindful of their actions and their impact on the physical environment. He raised concerns about activities such as illegal mining, questioning, "How can creatures like you and I destroy other creatures such as trees and water bodies for selfish reasons?" He emphasized that, according to Revelation 11:18, God will destroy those who destroy the earth.

According to Ghana News Agency, Rev. Ahima-Yeboah delivered these remarks during the 40th anniversary celebration of the Victory Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana at Oforikrom, Kumasi. He encouraged congregants to promote the wise use of natural resources and highlighted the importance of living harmoniously with all creatures while maintaining peace with others.

The anniversary, themed "Celebrating Our Heritage at 40, Persisting in Mission with Joy and Hope," also served as a reminder for Christians to draw closer to the word of God amidst global challenges such as wars, poverty, famine, high youth unemployment, corruption, environmental degradation, and LGBTQIAA++ issues. Rev. Ahima-Yeboah urged Christians to avoid complacency in their achievements and remain open to God's will.

He further recommended that members rededicate themselves to winning more souls for Christ to realize PCG's Agenda two million and the planting of 1,000 churches by 2028, coinciding with the church's bicentennial anniversary. Rev. Ahima-Yeboah also paid tribute to the church's founding fathers and mothers, as well as past and present leaders, for their dedication to advancing God's work at the Victory Congregation in Oforikrom.
